An Evaluation of the effectiveness of the Optimising Health LIterAcy (Ophelia) Process in Improving Health Literacy Across Chosen Life Stages

The Ophelia or Optimizing Health Literacy and Access to Health Services process is a practical tool for effective health promotion program delivery with a multi-sector and pragmatic approach to design interventions. Through the use of a needs assessment and community profiling, vignettes and hypothetical personas were used in focused group discussions and workshops aimed at co-creating intervention ideas with stakeholders. Rapid realist reviews were then done to check for the feasibility of said interventions. This was adapted in a pilot community in Leyte, Philippines and was able to ensure health promotion interventions were designed with community resources, wisdom of immersed public health practitioners, and addressed community needs.
